From the most seasoned athlete to the person who “hates exercise” but is ready to make a change, our private sessions are suitable for you. We work with the
Pilates-curious or beginners.
Intermediate or Advanced Pilates devotees.
Pre/post-natal women looking for safe and effective movement.
Pre/post-physical therapy clients who are recovering from or preparing for physical therapy.
Weekend warriors or the pro athlete looking for additional training or to refine their performance.
Instructors at Posture Studio create customized private or duet sessions that help strengthen, align, and reset with insightful instruction. Private sessions are offered in-person or virtually.
How it works: Chose your appointment type. Specify an instructor or choose “All Instructors”. Chose the date and time for an appointment. If there is no availability for a specific instructor, it is because they have a waitlist. Contact the studio to request the first available appointment with that instructor.
Private Pilates Sessions
Private Pilates sessions are an excellent way to receive individualized instruction tailored specifically to your needs. They serve as an ideal introduction to Pilates, providing time to learn the exercises, become familiar with the equipment, and build confidence. For those with Pilates experience, private sessions can deepen your practice and offer targeted support, including focused work for athletes.
Each private session is unique but always covers the mechanics of breathing and its relationship to posture, strength, and movement. From there, a customized program is developed to address your specific goals, such as increasing strength, flexibility, and mobility to support more easeful movement in daily life.
Many clients begin their Pilates journey with private sessions before transitioning into group classes. Others choose to continue with private sessions to benefit from the focused, personalized attention they provide.
Clinical Pilates + Pilates for Special Populations
Pilates is widely recognized for its rehabilitative qualities, thanks to its focus on breathwork, core strengthening, and functional human movement patterns. Many of the exercises taught in Pilates overlap with those used in physical therapy, which is why clients often mention seeing Pilates exercises during their physical therapy sessions.
At Posture Studio, we build on these foundations of functional human movement to support continued rehabilitative training. Many clients are referred to us by doctors or physical therapists to continue their progress after completing medical treatment.
Our specialized sessions cater to a variety of needs, including pre-surgery preparation, post-surgery recovery, pre- and post-rehabilitation, as well as prenatal and postpartum training.
Postural + Movement Retraining
Postural and Movement Retraining
Postural and movement retraining is at the heart of the work at Posture Studio and one of our most beloved offerings. These sessions are known for uncovering valuable insights that help clients transform their movement patterns and posture.
Sessions typically begin by focusing on the foundational elements of functional human movement. Much like rehabilitation sessions, these foundations include breathwork, freedom of movement, core strengthening and control, efficient limb coordination, and functional movements that support everyday activities.
Clients practice essential human movements such as walking, sitting, squatting, and kneeling, with additional discussions on biomechanics for more athletic movements like running, cycling, using weight machines, or safely lifting heavy objects.
Postural and Movement Retraining sessions are highly specialized and offered exclusively by our Master and Senior-level instructors, Carla Shifflett and Tara Fontenot.
Alexander Technique
The Alexander/Feldenkrais Approach to Poise challenges traditional concepts of strength and flexibility while uncovering profound resources of support and freedom. By following the guidance—rather than the example—of the teacher, students take a radical step toward fully owning their experience. What is valuable and useful for each individual naturally reveals itself within a context of effortless support.
Sessions often take an indirect approach, allowing the body’s system to release old habits and recognize more innate, efficient patterns. Through the practice of attention and awareness, students experience a richer and more fulfilling sense of movement.
Each session focuses on specific areas of use, such as:
Head floating
Weightless limbs
Torso leading movement
Breath timing in coordination with whole-body movement
Light, efficient walking
These explorations influence all aspects of functional movement, including work on Pilates equipment, sports activities, and daily life tasks. Though the explorations are indirect, they illuminate functional patterns that can be carried into real-life applications.
Alexander/Feldenkrais Sessions are offered by Brad Stoller.
